Tyler Bertuzzi, how do you do.

In his first game in nearly a year after missing most of last season with a back injury, Bertuzzi lit up the Lightning with four goals on opening night at Little Caesars Arena, including an early candidate for goal of the year.

The fireworks started early in the second. Bertuzzi took a pass from Nick Leddy at center ice, dangled through two Lightning defensemen inside the blueline and beat Andrei Vasilevskiy over the blocker for the most dazzling goal of his career.

And for good measure, rookie Moritz Seider picked up the second assist for his first NHL point.

About seven minutes later, Bertuzzi struck again, this time at the end of a power play. After Adam Erne rang a shot off the crossbar, Bertuzzi jumped on the loose puck in the crease and swiped it home to put Detroit up 3-0.

Bertuzzi wasn't done. Back on the power play five minutes after that, he buried a perfect seam pass from Robby Fabbri to restore the Wings' three-goal lead and make the hats rain onto the ice. And for good measure ... rookie Lucas Raymond picked up the second assist for his first NHL point.

Bertuzzi still wasn't done. Early in the third, he pulled a puck out of the corner, skated in front and beat Vasilevskiy with a wrist shot under the arm. He became the first player in Red Wings history to score four goals in the season opener and the first to do so in the NHL since Auston Matthews in his rookie year.

And if you're still not entertained, Bertuzzi was also involved in a near brawl midway through the second after Dylan Larkin was hit from behind and responded with a sucker punch that got him ejected from the game. Bertuzzi, for his part, went flying through the air to stop Lightning defenseman Jan Rutta from taking a run at Larkin.

All in all, an eventful start to the season.
