Could Patrick Kane reunite with Alex DeBrincat in Detroit? Don't rule it out.

With the future Hall of Famer weighing where he might sign once he recovers from offseason hip surgery, the Red Wings are reportedly one of the teams on his radar.

NHL Insider Frank Seravalli reported Tuesday that the three teams that seem to have Kane's attention are his hometown Sabres, the Rangers, with whom he finished last season, and the Red Wings, who acquired DeBrincat this offseason. Kane and DeBrincat were linemates during both of DeBrincat's 40-goal seasons with the Blackhawks.

According to Seravalli, the Red Wings are a team that "those close to Kane have noticed he's been keeping an eye on."

"Certainly a surprise to me when I first heard it," said Seravalli. "I thought it was really intriguing. But I have to tell you that the idea of getting Kane and Alex DeBrincat relinked is certainly something that has stood out to many. So the Red Wings are another team; let’s see how this season develops before we make any judgments."

Kane, who turns 35 in November, tallied 57 points in 73 games last season with the Blackhawks and Rangers while playing through a nagging hip injury. He had 92 points in 78 games the season before that. Kane underwent a hip resurfacing procedure in June and has been skating for the past month. He could return as soon as mid-November.

"Sometime in November is the target date for Patrick Kane to get moving again and make some kind of decision," said Seravalli. "And as mentioned, keep an eye on those three teams. There will be others coming out of the woodwork to try to make a pitch, but I think those three teams are the ones that have been mentioned to this point."
