On Thursday Steve Yzerman said he was considering a reunion with Marc Staal.
Didn't take him long to get it done.
Detroit re-signed the veteran defenseman to a one-year, $2 million contract Sunday. The deal reportedly includes a full no-movement clause.

Staal, 34, came to the Red Wings last offseason from the Rangers in a trade that also netted Detroit a second-round pick. He posted 10 points in 56 games and logged the third most ice time on the team's blueline.
A left-hand shot with 14 years of NHL experience, Staal could be a natural D partner for rookie Moritz Seider, who's expected to make the team out of training camp.
The Red Wings also acquired left-shot defenseman Nick Leddy from the Islanders earlier this month; he brings 11 years of NHL experience to Detroit.
