Steve Yzerman has handed out his first long-term deal as general manager of the Red Wings.
The recipient: Anthony Mantha.
Detroit signed Mantha to a four-year deal Tuesday, with an average annual salary of $5.7 million, according to Elliotte Friedman. That works out to a total of $22.8 million.
Mantha, who turned 26 last month, is one of the major pieces of Detroit's rebuild. He has 65 goals over his past three seasons, though he missed significant time last season and the season before that due to injuries.
Mantha joins Dylan Larkin as the Red Wings' only two players who are signed beyond the 2021-22 season. Larkin is entering the third year of the five-year deal he signed in 2018.
The Red Wings also signed forward Tyler Bertuzzi to a one-year deal last week.
