Jakub Vrana's first full season with the Red Wings began with an injury. Now it won't be much of a season at all.
After injuring his shoulder 10 minutes into his first practice of training camp last week, Vrana will be sidelined for a minimum of four months, Jeff Blashill announced Thursday.

That means the 25-year-old winger won't make his season debut in early February, at the earliest.
It's a big blow for the Red Wings, who were counting on Vrana to play a big role in their top six this season. And it's a setback for Vrana, who was poised to take his game to new heights in Detroit.
Acquired from the Capitals in last season's Anthony Mantha trade, Vrana put up eight goals and 11 points in 11 games with the Wings. When the season ended, Blashill said Vrana would be "one of the drivers of the bus, one of those main guys that the team can follow" moving forward.
Not for now. Not for at least four months.
