A wild night at Little Caesars ended in heartbreak for the Red Wings.

After Dylan Larkin put Detroit ahead midway through the third period, San Jose knotted things up with under 1:30 to play, then netted the winner a little more than 30 seconds into overtime.

The Sharks scored two goals in just over two minutes to steal a win from the Wings.

But that was mundane compared to what transpired earlier in the night.

With Detroit leading 1-0 late into the second period, the two teams combined for a nearly-historic barrage of goals, scoring six in the span of 3:01 — one second longer than the NHL’s all-time record for fastest six goals scored.

To add to the madness, the first three goals of that scoring frenzy all came from Detroit, putting the Wings up 4-0 at the 13:40 mark. But San Jose answered with two short-handed goals in a hurry, then added another.

For good measure, the Sharks knotted things up with less than 30 seconds to go in the middle period.

Patrick Kane nearly found the net in his first game sporting the Winged Wheel, hitting the post early in the third period. He finished with three shots in 16:33 ice time.

The overtime loss snapped a three-game win streak for the Wings, who sit tied for second place in the Atlantic Division.
