Former first-round picks Dennis Cholowski and Evgeny Svechnikov are among the players the Red Wings have exposed ahead of Wednesday's expansion draft for the Seattle Kraken.
So are 2020 free agent signings Troy Stecher and Vladislav Namestnikov.
Steve Yzerman and the Wings opted to protect seven forwards, three defensemen and one goalie, rather than eight skaters of any position and one goalie.
The forwards: Dylan Larkin, Tyler Bertuzzi, Robby Fabbri, Jakub Vrana, Adam Erne, Michael Rasmussen and Givani Smith.
The defensemen: Filip Hronek, recent trade acquisition Nick Leddy and Gustav Lindstrom.
The goalie: Thomas Greiss.
Stecher is the most likely player to be selected by the Kraken. The 27-year-old is a proven second-pair defenseman who carries an affordable $1.7 million cap hit through 2021-22.
Detroit also exposed the likes of Danny DeKeyser, whose contract makes him unlikely to be selected, and several pending unrestricted free agents including Luke Glendening, Darren Helm, Bobby Ryan and Jonathan Bernier.
The team's full list of exposed players is below.
Forwards: Riley Barber, Kyle Criscuolo, Turner Elson, Valtteri Filppula, Sam Gagner, Luke Glendening, Darren Helm, Taro Hirose, Vladislav Namestnikov, Frans Nielsen, Bobby Ryan, Evgeny Svechnikov, Dominic Turgeon, Hayden Verbeek.
Defensemen: Alex Biega, Dennis Cholowski, Danny DeKeyser, Christian Djoos, Joe Hicketts, Dylan McIlrath, Marc Staal, Troy Stecher.
Goalies: Jonathan Bernier, Kevin Boyle, Kaden Fulcher, Calvin Pickard.
