With the Super Bowl behind us, baseball is upon us. Spring training starts this week for the Tigers, with the team's first official workout on Wednesday -- the same day that regular season tickets go on sale at Tigers.com/tickets. On Monday, the club announced a long lineup of promotions at Comerica Park, including giveaways for the first 15,000 fans at every Saturday home game. Check them out below.
The Tigers start the season March 28 at the White Sox. Opening Day in Detroit is Friday April 5 against the Athletics, and the first giveaway is a day later: a Tigers hockey jersey, which just might complement a playoff push for the Red Wings (who host the Sabres that Sunday).
The Tigers are giving out a beanie the next Saturday, April 13 against the Twins and on Saturday, April 27, they're celebrating Dan Dickerson's 25th season as the voice of the Tigers on 97.1 The Ticket with a Dickerson bobblehead.
On Saturday, May 25 against the Blue Jays, the Tigers are giving out a block hoodie, and they'll give out their annual Pink out the Park jersey to support breast cancer awareness on Saturday, June 8 against the Brewers.
Fans ages 21 and older will get a beach towel (presented by Miller Lite) on Saturday, June 22 agains the White Sox, and the Tigers will give out a Retro Detroit Stars hat, an ode to the Negro Leagues team, on Saturday, July 13 against the Dodgers.
The Tigers will celebrate Jim Leyland's induction into the Hall of Fame on Saturday, Aug. 3 against the Royals with a Leyland starter pack that comes with a hat, sunglasses and a mustache in the former manager's classic style. And the Tigers will do back-to-back giveaways with the Yankees in town later that month: a bucket hat on Friday, Aug. 16 and a Riley Greene Little League Classic Bobblehead that Saturday, with the Tigers and Yankees completing their series that Sunday in Williamsport, Pa. in this year's MLB Little League Classic.
The Tigers will celebrate the 40th anniversary of the 1984 World Series-winning team on Saturday, Aug. 31 against the Red Sox, with an '84 replica jersey giveaway. And they'll give out a iFiesta Tigres! “Tigres” Soccer Jersey to fans ages 21 and older (presented by Miller Lite) on Saturday, Sept. 14 against the Orioles.
The full giveaway schedule is below. The Tigers will also host a “Friday Night Party in the Park," presented by Casamigos, at every Friday home game, featuring fireworks, live music and entertainment and pregame food and beverage specials. And every Sunday home game will be a Chevy Sunday Kids Day, where young fans can get player autographs on the concourse, run the bases after the game and take free rides on the ferris wheel and carousel.
