Miguel Cabrera’s so-called farewell tour made its way to Boston this weekend and he’ll be heading home with a piece of one of baseball’s most famous ballparks.
Ahead of the Tigers’ 6-2 win at Fenway Park Saturday, the Red Sox presented the future Hall-of-Famer with a No. 24 placard from the Green Monster scoreboard.
The club also made a charitable donation to the Miggy Foundation, as many teams have done this summer. Boston's Kenley Jansen, Chris Sale and Justin Turner were on the field for the pre-game ceremony.
Last month the Mariners honored him with a very Seattle sendoff – a Starbucks apron and a gift basket.
Cabrera, due to retire at the end of this season, entered Sunday’s series finale in Boston with a career .289 average, 12 home runs and 44 RBIs against the Red Sox. He was in the lineup as the DH.
