Draymond Green might get a chunk of his next paycheck deducted for his postgame referee rant Wednesday night in Dallas.
After watching Steph Curry go to the floor hard on a drive attempt without a whistle late in the second quarter, Green unloaded on the refs before earning his eighth technical foul of the season. The Warriors lost 99-82 in a discombobulated effort and moved to 28-9.
Green left his postgame press conference in a huff, finishing his media session with a spirited take on the technical he received.
"As I said to the ref, it's unbelievable that you'll walk away from me, very disrespectful, mid-sentence when we're having a normal conversation," Green said. "And if I walked away from you, when you were talking to me, you'd give me a tech. He continued to walk away from me, then walked up to me and said, 'All right, what do you have to say?' And I said, 'F–k it, it's cool, I don't even wanna talk no more. It's all right.' Then walked away and got a tech.
"So, you tell me where the tech is at? This ain't the same world we used to live in. You can't treat people like that. That's bulls–t. If I walk away I get a tech, if I walk to you, I get a tech. If I have a normal conversation with you, I get a tech. I'm not going to stop talking. I don't know if the tech is supposed to stop me from talking, but I'm not going to stop talking. And I shouldn't have to stop talking if I come at you and have a respectful conversation with you."
Jason Dumas of KRON4 shared video of Green's rant and the play which resulted in his tech.
Twitter user @_Nai_Roy also shared this clip of Green having a spirited talk with the referees.
Draymond is already halfway to the magic number of 16 regular-season techs, which results in an automatic one-game suspension without pay. Green said, "Five or six of them are super questionable."
"I'm a grown man with my own children, so I won't treated as someone else's child," Green said. "They probably don't have as many children as I have. It's garbage. Like I said, there's been quite a few of 'em like that this year. I don't really make any noise about it because at this point of my career, I really don't care about getting a tech. It kinda is what it is, but it is a shame. That's for certain. So, whatever."
Then he left the dais.
Don't expect Draymond to tone it down anytime soon, though. It seems like he's only getting more outspoken as he gets deeper into his career.
