The writing was on the wall when Michigan State picked up Temple quarterback Anthony Russo in the transfer portal.
Now it’s official.
Junior quarterback Rocky Lombardi entered the transfer portal on Friday, according to reports. He's the Spartans' ninth player to enter the portal since the middle of last month.
Lombardi opened this season as Michigan State's starter and threw six touchdowns in the first two games, including an upset win over Michigan. In the four games since: two touchdowns and seven picks.
His season ended when he was injured in Michigan State's loss to Ohio State earlier this month.
The Spartans added Russo on Wednesday. The grad transfer threw 30 touchdowns over the past two seasons (16 games) at Temple.
Michigan State also returns three quarterbacks in redshirt freshman Payton Thorne, who replaced Lombardi at the end of the season, redshirt sophomore Theo Day and true freshman Noah Kim.
