Thomas Kithier becomes Spartans' third transfer of offseason

The Michigan State basketball team will look significantly different next season.

This would have been true regardless, with the Spartans bringing in a top-10 recruiting class headlined by five-star SG Max Christie. Attrition will just make it more obvious.

On Tuesday junior forward Thomas Kithier became MSU's third player to enter the transfer portal this offseason.

Kithier played at least 25 games for the Spartans each of the past three seasons, including 14 starts this year. He averaged 2.4 points and 2.5 rebounds in about 10 minutes per game in 2020-21.

Listed as a graduate transfer, Kithier followed Jack Hoiberg and Rocket Watts into the portal.

But Michigan State's biggest loss this offseason is Aaron Henry, who announced Monday he's declaring for the NBA Draft.
