For the last week, it's been assumed Cam Newton and Stephon Gilmore had dinner on Friday, Oct. 2 -- the night Newton learned he had tested positive for COVID-19 -- because it's what ESPN's Adam Schefter reported.
Gilmore tested positive the next Wednesday, which was just two days following the team played the Chiefs in Kansas City.
While Schefter is usually spot-on with his reporting, this one might be wrong. Gilmore's wife took to Twitter Tuesday to contradict the report.
"There was no dinner out, I’m going to help you out so you guys stop reporting false news," she tweeted Tuesday.
As for why she took to Twitter?
"I’ve seen it circulating a couple times and now I’m annoyed," she wrote.
Gilmore and Newton both reportedly are not showing symptoms and could play this week against Denver.
