A day after identifying his new coordinator on defense, Jim Harbaugh has revamped his coaching staff on offense.
Michigan football announced Wednesday that quarterbacks coach Matt Weiss has also been promoted to co-offensive coordinator alongside offensive line coach Sherrone Moore. Prior to joining Michigan last season, Weiss spent 12 years with the Ravens coaching under John Harbaugh.
Josh Gattis, the Wolverines' primary offensive coordinator and play-caller for the past three seasons, left the program last week for the same job at the University of Miami.

Harbaugh said in a press release that Weiss and Moore will "share play-calling duties with our objective being to maximize our players’ talents and put them in the best position to be successful."
Michigan also announced that safeties coach Ron Bellamy will replace Gattis as wide receivers coach and running backs coach Mike Hart will add duties as run game coordinator, while graduate assistant and former Michigan offensive lineman Grant Newsome has been hired as tight ends coach.
Harbaugh called Newsome "a future star in this profession" and said "our players really respect what Grant is teaching on the field."
"We have great chemistry among the coaches on our offensive staff," said Harbaugh. "The teamwork has been exceptional. Everyone has been integral to our offensive success and each coach’s contribution has and will continue to be valued."
The Wolverines ranked second in the Big Ten in scoring offense last season, driven by the best run game in the conference. They return lots of talent on that side of the ball, with a QB battle looming between Cade McNamara and JJ McCarthy.
On defense, Harbaugh is reportedly bringing in former Ravens assistant and Vanderbilt defensive coordinator Jesse Minter to replace Mike Macdonald.
