As rumors swirled around the Michigan football program during the Wolverines’ bye week, it may have been easy to forget we’re getting down to the nitty gritty of the college football season.
The College Football Playoff Committee on Tuesday night unveiled its first Top 25 of the season, with four weeks of play left.
Michigan came in at No. 3 in the committee’s initial rankings, one spot behind Georgia, while Ohio State came in at No. 1
Florida State rounded out the hypothetical playoff field as we approach the final weeks of the season.
Sitting at 8-0, all four teams control their own destiny to reach the CFP.
Washington (8-0) and Oregon (7-1) were the first two teams out.
ESPN analysts noted the Wolverines and Bulldogs received knocks from the committee for ranking outside the top 100 in strength of schedule. It’s worth pointing out, however, both have difficult remaining schedules, meaning they could rise up the rankings if they were to win out.
