97.1 The Ticket -- First year Michigan basketball coach Juwan Howard discussed the rigors of recruiting at the college level during the Wolverines' media day on Thursday.
Hours later, he had landed a prized recruit in 5-star prospect Isaiah Todd.
The 6-foot-10 power forward from the Word Of God Christian Academy in Raleigh, N.C. announced Thursday night -- on his 18th birthday -- he has committed to play for Michigan.

— TIPTON EDITS -- (@TiptonEdits) October 17, 2019Todd is billed as the top recruit out of North Carolina, the No. 2 PF in the class of 2020 and the 12th best prospect nationally, per 247sports.com. The lengthy senior had narrowed his choices down to Michigan and Kansas before opting to become a Wolverine. Todd is ranked as the No. 7 overall prospect in ESPN's top 100 and is listed as the top power forward.
Jerry Meyer, a scout for 247sports, calls Todd "a long and athletic forward who loves to play facing the basket," who can score at all three levels, though reports say he needs to bulk up and work on the ball handling and defensive aspects of his game.

Howard's first season at the helm officially begins on Nov. 5, when the Wolverines host Appalachian State at Crisler Center.
