By Ron Davis:
Tough loss for the Padres on Tuesday night as they staged a bit of a late rally but still came up short to the Phillies, losing by a score of 9-6. Despite a 1-2-3 1st inning, the talented Phillies lineup gave starter Chris Paddack trouble from there on out, as he labored through his remaining 3 and a 3rd innings of work, allowing 5 earned runs on 8 hits before being removed in the 5th inning after 91 pitches. The Padres offense was able to keep things interesting as they got 2 home runs from Franmil Reyes and another from Eric Hosmer, but in the end the early defecit proved to be too much to overcome. The Friars will still have a shot at the series victory Wednesday afternoon, as they face the Phillies in game 3. Pregame coverage here on 97.3 The Fan begins at 11:40 AM with Braden Surprenant, Ted Leitner and Jesse Agler will have the call of the game starting at 12:30 PM.
