Padres Getting People to Believe

It has been a long time coming that the Padres have played a winning brand of baseball.  In fact, you have to go back to the 2010 season when the Padres finished in 2nd place in the National League West with a 90-72 record. The Padres went through two different ownership changes, and have gone through three general managers since 2009. The ownership of Peter Seidler and Ron Fowler have allowed this franchise to do things the right way. Hiring A.J. Preller, who had the reputation of being a maverick on the scouting trail, and allowing him to do it his way has paid off in bringing in top flight talent for the Padres organization.

Being a lifelong Padres fan, I look at this roster that has been assembled, and how can you not be encouraged in what you are seeing? The Padres have been doing a lot of things right. The biggest thing is the patience they have shown in not trading valuable minor league talent to bring in established major league talent. When you are not winning games, people panic and the Padres patience is starting to pay off. As they like to say in baseball - it’s a small sample size. It may be a small sample size, but it has been a very exciting start for the 2019 Padres squad and their fans.

Have a great week and make sure to tune in Monday - Friday 5:00am to 9:00 am to Coach in the Mornings on 97.3 The Fan.
