Here is what I learned this weekend ...

The Chargers-Ravens game was fun to watch for one reason: I kept waiting for John Harbaugh to pull Lamar Jackson and put in Joe Flacco.  Would Flacco have done better than Jackson?  We will never know because Harbaugh made the safe call and stuck with the QB that will lead the Ravens in 2020, not the guy who gave them the best chance to win in 2019.  To be fair, Jackson looked out of sync.  Was the pressure getting to him now that they were in the playoffs?  Did the game speed up on him?  Or was the Ravens offensive line saying "howdy pass rushers, come on past and say hi to our QB?"  It was probably a combination of all three to be candid.  Either way, Harbaugh protected his new QB at the expense of not only his old QB but everyone else on the team.  Yanking Jackson would have lead to an offseason of conjecture by Jason La Canfora and all the other insiders.   Being hung out to dry by being benched in the playoffs would have been a blow to the kid. But what about every other member of the organization that has been working their tail off to win?  Was it fair to them?  You never know when you are going to get a chance to make the playoffs and advance.  Harbaugh coached with a lack of urgency for the moment.  Instead of seizing the moment that might not come their way again, he played it safe.  Was Flacco going to lead them back to a win?  Who knows?  What I do know is that everyone knows what carpe diem means.  Have you ever heard anyone say "ita ludere tatum"?  Me neither.  It means "play it safe" in Latin, and no one ever screams that going into battle do they?

Okay Chargers fans in San Diego, get ready for the week of talking yourself into believing you can beat TB12.  The Bolts were better than Baltimore last weekend.  Now comes the real test on the road in New England.  Oh My!

I am getting ready to believe in the Colts.

Dak is Dak and the trade for Amari Cooper was nice, but the Cowboys are riding on the back of Ezekiel Elliott.  As long as Zeke is eating, all will be well in Jerry's World.

Doink is now a word we can use in everyday conversation after the Bears-Eagles game.  "I totally doinked that project," and if it is a really bad fail, I can say I really doinked trying to fix that bathroom sink.  I feel bad for Bears kicker Cody Parkey for not making the winning field goal against the Eagles.  It now looks like one of the Eagles got a hand on the kick as it passed the line of scrimmage.

It was a heck of a game and someone had to lose.  Sorry we are all not winners just for showing up.  But come on football fans, the threats against Parkey is total DOINK.  Keyboard tough guys going after him on social media is weak.  Truth is, NO ONE would run that trash to his face, NO ONE. Want to know why?  He is a professional football player, and even if he is "just a kicker" he could probably drop just about everyone taking a run at him on Twitter.
