The Padres dropped their series opener against the Braves 3-2, despite a strong effort from JP Sears, who allowed just two runs (one earned) in 5 innings. After Michael Harris' game-tying solo home run in the 5th inning, Mauricio Dubon reached first base on catcher's interference. He then scored on Joey Bart's double to left field, giving the Braves a 2-1 lead. That would prove to be a pivotal sequence in the game, as the Braves would ultimately win by one run. Ty France hit a solo homer in the 7th to make it a 3-2 game, and the Padres were able to get runners on the corners with two outs, but both runners were ultimately stranded in what turned out to be the Padres' best and final chance to tie or take the lead. Walker Buehler will start for the Padres on Tuesday.
