The New York Yankees were eliminated by the Boston Red Sox from the playoffs in the AL Wild Card Game Tuesday night in front of a raucous crowd at Fenway. On Wednesday, former Yankees starter CC Sabathia -- who won a title with the Yankees in 2009, expressed his frustrations on his R2C2 podcast about Tuesday night's disappointing performance from the Yankees.

"Our core lost to a team in '18 that's not even the same Red Sox ... Mookie (Betts), Jackie Bradley, (Andrew) Benintendi ... they traded all them," Sabathia said on his R2C2 podcast. "We still have the same core. We come back to Boston four years later and lost to a completely different core ... What the f--- are we doing wrong?"
Sabathia may have a point. While the Red Sox scrapped their entire core, the Yankees still have their core group of players which included Aaron Judge, Giancarlo Stanton and Aroldis Chapman, who were all on the team during the 2018 playoff run. Not to mention the Yankees added other key pieces like Gerrit Cole, Anthony Rizzo and Joey Gallo among many others to sure up their already talented roster.
The Yankees were only able to manage two runs all night in a game the Red Sox controlled from start to finish, winning 6-2. The Yankees were able to manage two runs on six hits. Judge, Stanton and Rizzo accounted for five of those six runs.
CC knows the feeling of losing to hated rival Red Sox. Sabathia was on the mound in the decisive Game 4 of the 2018 American League Division Series when the Yankees were once again eliminated by Boston. Sabathia gave up three runs on five hits in three innings on the mound before leaving in a 4-3 loss.
The Yankees have a lot of questions coming into the offseason. Who’s to blame? Aaron Boone, who seems to be the easy scapegoat, or the man who is responsible for the formation of the team, Brian Cashman? These are just some of the questions that need to be answered in the Bronx.
