Colin Cowherd might want to stick to sports after a notable political prediction blew up in his face.

Last week, the FS1 host boldly proclaimed a "red wave" was afoot in Tuesday's midterm elections.
Cowherd seemed to suggest Covid-triggered school closings would prompt voters to usher in an overwhelming victory for Republican candidates.
"Don't mess w people's kids," Cowherd tweeted. "It lands differently -- and they will hold a grudge."
When warned that he would face backlash over the take, Cowherd defiantly replied that he "couldn't give two Fs."
The timing of Cowherd's tweet was curious given that schools have largely been open since at least fall 2021, if not sooner, as part of an initiative driven by the Biden administration.
In any event, while the Republicans did indeed appear headed toward regaining control of the House, the margin was smaller than many expected. The fate of the previously Democrat-controlled Senate was still unclear by Wednesday afternoon.
What was clear was that there would not be the "red wave" that Cowherd and others had predicated.
And for some fans and journalists on social media, Cowherd's doomed prognostication was occasion to spike the proverbial football.
