The Padres bounced back from a loss on Saturday night to beat the Yankees 4-3 on Sunday and take the series two games to one. The game began with a bang for the Padres, as Fernando Tatis Jr., Jake Cronenworth and Manny Machado hit back-to-back-to-back home runs off of Gerrit Cole in the bottom of the 1st inning to take a 3-0 lead. Luis Campusano hit what turned out to be a crucial home run in the 7th inning to put the Padres up 4-0. Things got dicey for the Padres in the top of the 8th inning, when Adrian Morejon allowed an infield single to Cody Bellinger, followed by a walk to Paul Goldschmidt. Spencer Jones then doubled down the left field line, bringing in one run. Amed Rosario then hit a dribbler down the third base line that Morejon should have just held on to, but instead tried to throw him out at first base and made a wild throw that Ty France couldn't catch, allowing two runs to score. Morejon would escape the inning after Jose Caballero was caught stealing and Jasson Dominguez lined out to center. Mason Miller then struck out the side in the 9th inning to earn his 33rd save of the season, as the Padres improved to 75-68. The Nationals come to town for a 3-game series beginning on Monday.
