Former longtime Eagles star offensive lineman Jason Peters will be returning to Philadelphia as a visiting player with the Cowboys in Week 6, and he's marking the reunion with tough love -- Philly-style.
The 40-year-old, 18-year veteran, now in his first season with Dallas, didn't mince words when asked what it means to be returning to the City of Brotherly Love, and what he expects of Eagles fans at Lincoln Financial Field on Sunday night.
"I just know the Philly fans are f--king idiots when it comes to camaraderie, the Cowboys -- any team, really," Peters told reporters on Wednesday. "They know that. They pride themselves on being nasty, vulgar. They're going to cuss at you. Philly fans are the wildest fans out there, to me."
Peters would know. The nine-time Pro Bowler spent more than a decade with the Eagles after breaking into the league with the Buffalo Bills.
Along the way, he established himself as one of the best offensive tackles in the league -- and earned a ring when the Eagles knocked off the Patriots in Super Bowl LII, though sadly he wasn't active for the big game after suffering a season-ending knee injury earlier in the campaign.
But Peters remained with the Eagles through 2020, and even though he downplayed the upcoming Sunday Night Football matchup as "just another game," he conceded that Philly holds a special place in his heart.
"I got my first Super Bowl there," Peters said on Wednesday. "I laid a lot of bricks there. Philly, that’s my city. Just to go back, it'll be great to beat 'em."
After spending last season with the Chicago Bears, Peters is now with one of the Eagles' division rivals in the Cowboys.
And he expects nothing less than the usual treatment for a visiting player.
"Them fans, they so wild. They might go to throwing stuff at me," he said. "I'm not expecting nothing worse than them throwing stuff at me."
