The NCAA has apparently compounded its controversial treatment of female basketball players by botching its response to the row.
The top governing body in college sports seemed to pat itself on the back on social media on Saturday, while revealing updated and improved workout spaces for the female student-athletes participating in the Women's Division I Basketball Tournament in a bubble setting in San Antonio, Texas.
The newly tricked-out weight and conditioning room was unveiled days after several players called attention to the unimpressive and cramped workout spaces compared to what their male counterparts were enjoying in their bubble, in Indianapolis.
But rather than humbly atoning for snubbing the women, the NCAA saw fit to champion the correction of its sexist double-standard as some sort of achievement.
"The weight room has arrived!," the tweet read. "Let's gooooo"
While the NCAA and its social editors appeared pleased with themselves, many sports journalists and fans were less impressed.
