The 49ers are not just bringing back offensive lineman Trent Williams. They're bringing him back in a big, big way.
After reports surfaced that the 49ers were willing to pay him $20 million per season to keep him around, the front office stayed true to its reported word and will pay him a whopping $138.06 million over six years on the new deal. This gives him an annual average value of just over $23 million, with a $30 million signing bonus and $55.1 million in guaranteed money.
It's the most money that an offensive lineman has ever made, beating David Bakhtiari's previous record from his four-year deal worth up to $105.5 million, which he signed last year. ESPN's Dianna Russini had the scoop on the signing bonus, which is another record among offensive linemen.
Williams joined the 49ers last season after a disastrous end to his stint with Washington, playing in 14 games and recording one of his finest seasons to date, according to Pro Football Focus.
Williams will be 38 years old in the final year of his deal, in 2026.
