How The Bus saved Christmas.
NFL Hall of Famer Jerome Bettis came through in the clutch for Family Resources – a charity that works with child abuse victims – after it had about $1,900 worth of gifts allegedly stolen from its headquarters in Pittsburgh, a charity representative told TMZ Sports.
Toys, coats and clothes intended for about 400 victims of child abuse were missing from a conference room as of Tuesday morning.
That is where Bettis, who has helped fundraise for the organization this year, came into action.
The Steelers legend began auctioning off gifts and signed memorabilia on his Twitter account in exchange for donations to the charity.
According to TMZ Sports, Bettis’ gesture had yielded $2,000 worth of contributions as of Tuesday afternoon. He also got the attention of Steelers star Stephon Tuitt, who is expected to make a generous donation to the charity as well.
Others can also donate through the Family Resources website.
