The San Diego State Aztecs beat the Kennesaw State Owls 88-54 on Monday night at Viejas Arena, in the team's penultimate non-conference game of the season.
Micah Parrish led the Aztecs with 19 points, just one point shy of matching his career-high. Darrion Trammel had 14 points, while Jaedon LeDee also collected 14 points and seven rebounds. LeDee went 10-for-11 from the free throw line.
The Aztecs dominated in a handful of key categories. They outscored the Owls 40-16 in the paint, while shooting 51% from the floor compared to Kennesaw State's 35%. San Diego State scored 14 second chance points to the Owls' two points on those opportunities. San Diego State also received 48 points from the bench and distributed 21 assists.
The Aztecs trailed 12-10 in the first half before going on an 8-0 run to take an 18-12 lead with 11:32 remaining in the half.
San Diego State stayed in control, ultimately going on a 19-2 run in a five-plus minute span. The Aztecs led 29-14 with just more than eight minutes to play in the half.
The Aztecs were ahead 39-25 at halftime. Micah Parrish led all players with 10 points at the intermission. The Aztecs shot 42% as a team in the opening 20 minutes, while outscoring the Owls 20-4 in the paint.
San Diego State dominated in the second half, outscoring the Owls 49-29. The Aztecs shot 67% from the floor in the closing half, while going 4-for-6 from beyond the arc.
The Aztecs finish the non-conference schedule on Tuesday, December 20 against UC San Diego at Viejas Arena. Opening tip is at 7:30 p.m. Following that game, San Diego State begins Mountain West Conference play against Air Force on December 28.
