The Padres dropped to 1-3 and handed the Giants their first win of the season on Monday night. Walker Buehler made his Padres debut, and surrendered 3 earned runs on 5 hits and 2 walks in just 4 innings of work. Buehler tossed 72 pitches, 43 of which went for strikes. Harrison Bader put the Giants on the board with a solo homer in the 3rd inning, before Patrick Bailey and Casey Schmitt each contributed RBI-singles in the 4th to put San Francisco up 3-0. That score would hold until the Padres were down to their final out, when Jackson Merrill blasted a two-run home run off of Giants closer Ryan Walker, which was just the 3rd hit of the game for the Padres. Xander Bogaerts followed that up with a ground out to shortstop to end the game. The Padres' offensive woes continued, as they failed to score at least 4 runs for the fourth consecutive game this season. German Marquez will make his Padres debut on Tuesday night.
