San Diego Padres President of Baseball Operations and General Manager AJ Preller met with the media at the 2022 MLB Winter Meetings on Monday.
Earlier in the day, shortstop Trea Turner reportedly agreed to an 11-year, $300 million contract with the Philadelphia Phillies. During the press conference, Preller acknowledged the Padres' reported interest in Turner.
Preller also discussed a number of different topics. Those included the Padres' interest in starting pitching, Fernando Tatis Jr.'s status, the team's discussions with players that contributed to last season, and more.
