The Padres started out Monday's game really well, but ultimately lost to the Dodgers 6-3. They were able to manufacture a run off of Shohei Ohtani in the 1st inning in his 2025 debut, while Dylan Cease cruised through the first two innings, striking out the first five batters he faced. Cease allowed a game-tying RBI-double to Ohtani in the 3rd inning, but things went south in the following frame.
Xander Bogaerts hit an RBI-double in the top of the 4th to put the Padres back in the lead, but it was short-lived. Cease allowed five singles, a double and hit a batter in a 5-run 4th inning, as the Dodgers jumped out to a 6-2 lead. Manny Machado's torrid season continued, as he hit a solo homer in the 6th inning, but that was as close as the Padres would get, falling to the Dodgers 6-3. Randy Vasquez will start Tuesday's game for the Friars.
