The Mariners beat the Padres at Petco Park for the second night in a row to take an early lead in the Vedder Cup. Gavin Sheets' solo blast in the 4th inning put the Padres on top 1-0. Rowdy Tellez responded with a game-tying solo homer in the top of the 5th inning. Cal Raleigh broke the tie with a solo homer off of Adrian Morejon in the 7th inning. The Mariners would add two insurance runs in the 9th inning, earning a 4-1 victory. Michael King will try to help the Padres avoid the home sweep on Sunday.
