The Padres announced their 2026 Opening Day roster on Wednesday afternoon, less than 24 hours prior to first pitch against the Detroit Tigers on Opening Day. German Marquez and Walker Buehler earned spots in the starting rotation, Bradgley Rodriguez and Ron Marinaccio will begin the season in the bullpen and Ty Frace made the team as an infielder after displaying his defensive versatility during spring training. The rest of the positions had been relatively settled. The Padres also announced that Joe Musgrove, Jason Adam, Griffin Canning, Bryan Hoeing, Yuki Matsui, Sung-Mun Song and Will Wagner will begin the season on the IL, while starting pitcher Yu Darvish was placed on the Restricted List.
