The Padres announced that they were able to agree to one-year deals and avoid arbitration with 5 of their 6 arbitration-eligible players: Luis Arraez, Luis Campusano, Adrian Morejon, Jason Adam and Dylan Cease, continuing what has been a trend for AJ Preller and his front office. Agreeing to terms with these players clears up uncertainty and allows the club to proceed knowing what these players will make in 2025. Noticeably missing from the news is that the team was unable to reach an agreement with Michael King, who had a fantastic 2024 season and one year left of club control. The two sides are still able to negotiate towards a one-year deal or a long-term extension and avoid an arbitration hearing if they can reach common ground.
