The Padres beat the Diamondbacks 6-5 on Monday night in dramatic fashion. After finding themselves trailing 5-0, the Friars scored 3 runs in the 5th thanks to home runs by Jake Cronenworth and Ha-Seong Kim. Josh Bell's solo homer in the 7th inning brought the Padres to within 1 run. The Padres had an opportunity to at least tie the game in the 8th, as they trailed by 1 and had runners on the corners with 1 out and Juan Soto at the plate. But he struck out, and Manny Machado popped out, leaving both runners stranded. Nick Martinez pitched a clean 9th inning, setting up the drama in the bottom half of the inning. Wil Myers hit a 2-out single with a man on, followed by a Jose Azocar drawing a 2-out walk after fouling several pitches off, and Jorge Alfaro did what he always seems to do, and drove in the winning runs with a single up the middle to give the Padres the win.
