The Padres defeated the Dodgers 7-1 in the first game of their 3-game series. While the Padres offense scored 7 runs, including home runs from Manny Machado, Jurickson Profar and Brandon Drury, Yu Darvish was the story of the game, pitching brilliantly again with 7 shutout innings and 9 strikeouts, while allowing just 2 hits. Drury did have to leave the game after being hit in the head by a curveball from Dustin May. This was a blueprint that the Padres will hope to replicate on Saturday when Sean Manaea faces off against Julio Urias.
