The Padres defeated the Dodgers 5-2 on Friday night. San Diego's offense led the way with 8 hits and drew 11 walks. They hammered Clayton Kershaw, who allowed 8 hits and walked 5 while allowing 4 earned runs in just 4.2 innings pitched. Fernando Tatis Jr. did most of the damage against Kershaw, smacking a game-tying solo homer in the 3rd inning and a 2-run blast off the future Hall of Famer in the 5th. Yu Darvish was masterful, pitching into the 7th inning and allowing just one earned run. The Padres added an insurance run in the bottom of the 8th on a fielder's choice from Xander Bogaerts, but it wasn't necessary, as Josh Hader pitched a scoreless 9th with two punchouts to earn his 11th save of the season. Saturday's pitching matchup will feature Dustin May vs. Blake Snell.
