The Padres avoided a 3-game sweep in Miami, beating the Marlins 10-3 on Wednesday. Mike Clevinger struggled, allowing 3 runs and 10 baserunners in just 4.1 innings, but that didn't matter, as the Padres jumped out to a huge lead thanks to a big 1st inning. The Padres scored 5 runs in the first inning, as Jake Cronenworth hit a grand slam off of starter Pablo Lopez, and Ha-Seong Kim ripped an RBI-double. The Marlins scored 3 runs, pulling to within 3 runs and a score of 6-3 through 6 innings. Ha-Seong Kim scored an insurance run, scoring from 3rd base on a wild pitch in the 8th inning, and then Kim put the game away with a bases-clearing 3-run double in the 9th inning to extend the Padres lead to 7. All in all, Kim went 3-4 plus a walk, to go along with 4 RBIs and a run scored. The Padres now return home for a 6-game series with the Nationals and Guardians beginning on Thursday.
