The Padres defeated the Rockies 4-1 on Monday night, as Mike Clevinger continued his recent string of terrific outings. Clevinger allowed just 1 run in 7 innings pitched while striking out 6 Rockies. The Padres got on the board early, scoring 3 runs in the 1st inning on a solo shot from Jurickson Profar, an RBI-groundout from Wil Myers in his first game back with the team, and an RBI-single from Nomar Mazara. After Brendan Rodgers drove in a run with a sacrifice fly in the 6th, Trent Grisham answered with a solo homer in the 7th inning. Nick Martinez entered the game after Clevinger, and pitched 2 scoreless innings to earn his 5th save of the season. The Padres and Rockies will play a doubleheader on Tuesday beginning at 1:10.
