A few hours after announcing that Xander Bogaerts was placed on the IL with a fractured left shoulder, the Padres' bats came alive, jumping all over the Reds in a 7-3 victory. David Peralta made his Padres debut in left field, while Luis Arraez took over at second base. Arraez went 4-5 including a leadoff home run in the 1st inning. Jeimer Candelario responded with a solo homer off Michael King in the bottom of the 1st to tie the game.
Peralta drove in the Padres' second run on a fielder's choice in the 4th inning. Then the Padres rallied for a crooked number in the 5th, scoring 3 runs off former Padre Nick Martinez. Fernando Tatis Jr. drove in Luis Campusano with an RBI-single, followed by an RBI-double from Jurickson Profar and an RBI-single from Jake Cronenworth. Tyler Wade and Luis Arraez each delivered RBI-singles in the 6th inning, and the rout was on. Michael King also bounced back from a tough outing his previous start, allowing 3 runs over 6.2 innings to earn a quality start, as the Padres took home a 7-3 win. Matt Waldron will start Wednesday morning's rubber game.
