The Padres lost to the Giants 8-1 in their regular season finale, concluding the 2022 campaign with a record of 89-73. This was a game of almost no meaning for either team, as the Padres locked in their playoff positioning on Tuesday night and the Giants eliminated long ago. Wil Myers, the longest tenured player on the Padres, played in what could be his final home game with the team, unless they advance past the Mets. In the 8th inning, Bob Melvin made a defensive substitution for Myers once all of the players were already on the field, allowing Myers to draw a standing ovation from the Friar Faithful.
