The Padres lost another heartbreaker on Sunday, losing 5-4 to the Diamondbacks to lose the series 2 games to 1. The Padres jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the 1st inning, but weren't able to hold on. Arizona chipped away at the lead, scoring one in the bottom of the first and another in the bottom of the 5th on Gerardo Perdomo's solo homer. Jake Cronenworth put the Padres back up by 2 in the top of the 7th, but Lourdes Gourriel answered back with a game-tying 2-run blast in the bottom of the frame. Alek Thomas' bases loaded sac-fly in the bottom of the 8th proved to be the game-winning run, as the Padres continue to fall further out of the wild card race. They will now return home for a 3-game series against the Baltimore Orioles beginning Monday.
