The Padres fell to the Rockies 7-4 on Tuesday night, as Michael King failed to carry over the momentum from his last dominant start. King lasted just 3.2 innings, giving up 6 runs (4 earned) on 8 hits and 3 walks, including a grand slam to Brendan Rodgers in the bottom of the 4th that erased the Padres 4-1 lead and put the Rockies on top with one swing of the bat.

Early on, it looked like the Padres would cruise to a second consecutive win at Coors Field. Jake Cronenworth drove in Xander Bogaerts in the 1st, Jurickson Profar followed that up with an RBI-sac fly that allowed Fernando Tatis Jr. to score. After Nolan Jones' RBI-single in the 2nd, the Padres tacked on two more runs in the 3rd inning thanks to Luis Campusano's RBI-double and Jackson Merrill's run-scoring single. But that 4-1 lead was erased by the aforementioned Rodgers grand slam, and the Rockies would add two more insurance runs to win 7-4. Matt Waldron is scheduled to start Wednesday's game against the Rockies.
