Michael Wacha's strong stretch of pitching continued on Saturday, as he allowed just one run entering the 7th inning. That run was allowed in the 1st inning on an RBI-double by DJ Lemahieu. Fernando Tatis tied the game with a solo homer in the 4th inning. Ha-Seong Kim gave the Padres a brief lead in the top of the 7th inning with an RBI-single to left field, bringing home Jose Azocar. Wacha's pitch count was low, and he came back out to pitch the 7th inning, where he allowed a game-tying home run to Lemahieu.

Nick Martinez pitched scoreless 8th and 9th innings, before returning to pitch the bottom of the 10th inning with the game still tied at 2 after the Padres failed to score in the top half of the frame. Martinez intentionally walked Lemahieu to begin the inning and create force plays at each base. Harrison Bader then laid down a bunt to try and advance both runners, but Lemahieu was thrown out at 2nd base. Isiah Kiner-Falefa then drove in the game-winning run with a single down the third base line. Yu Darvish will face off against Gerrit Cole in Sunday's rubber match.
