The Padres got back in the win column on Saturday night after their 8-game winning streak came to an end on Friday night. German Marquez continued to look like a great find by AJ Preller, allowing no runs in 5.2 innings of work. The two teams were scoreless in the 8th inning, when the Padres finally broke through on an RBI-single back up the middle from Ramon Laureano. Fernando Tatis Jr. added on another run with an RBI-single he fought off the other way that found a hole on the right side of the infield and had an exit velocity of 57.9 MPH and an expected batting average of .060. Nolan Schanuel cut the Angels deficit in half with an RBI-single in the bottom of the 8th off of Jason Adam, but the Padres were able to score two insurance runs in the top of the 9th inning on a sac-fly from Laureano and another single from Tatis Jr. Mason Miller had the most difficult inning of his season to date, allowing a single and a walk, which brought the tying run to the plate with just one out. But Miller struck out Logan O'Hoppe and got Adam Frazier to ground out to second base to end the game. Michael King will face Reid Detmers in Sunday's rubber match.
