The Padres beat the Dodgers 11-1 on Tuesday night in a game that was never competitive. Dylan Cease found his groove, striking out 11 hitters over 7 shutout innings. Meanwhile, the offense took full advantage of the Dodgers' decision to utilize a bullpen game. After Lou Trivino pitched a scoreless 1st inning, Matt Sauer entered the game, and the Padres proceeded to pound him for 13 hits and 9 earned runs in 4.2 innings. The game got so out of hand that Kike Hernandez was brought in to pitch in the 6th inning when the score was 9-0. All in all, the Padres had 16 hits and 11 runs, while also giving their bullpen a much needed rest. The rubber match on Wednesday afternoon will feature Randy Vasquez starting against Justin Wrobleski.
