The Padres rallied to score 3 runs in the 9th inning to complete a 3-game sweep of the Pirates with a 7-6 victory. The built a 4-0 lead on 2-run homers from Manny Machado and David Peralta in the 1st and 2nd innings. The Pirates came back to score 5 unanswered runs, including a 2-run go-ahead homer from Joey Bart in the 7th inning. But for the second straight game, the Padres had no quit in them, and came from behind to win. Kyle Higashioka grounded into what looked like it would be a game-ending double play with the bases loaded and the Padres trailing by 1, but Oneil Cruz's throwing error allowed the tying and go-ahead runs to score. Luis Arraez would drive in Higashioka with a deep double to the fence, giving the Padres a 3-run cushion. Things got uncomfortable in the 9th when Robert Suarez served up an RBI-single to Rowdy Tellez, bringing the tying run to the plate. But Suarez got out of the jam, secured his 25th save, and the Padres completed the sweep. They'll now fly to Miami for a series against the Marlins.
