The Padres bounced back from a disappointing loss on Friday night to beat the White Sox on Saturday and again on Sunday afternoon. Michael King rebounded from his last disastrous outing to inspire some confidence with the playoffs on the horizon. King did struggle some with his control, as he walked four hitters in 5 plus innings of work, but did not allow a run to score. Jake Cronenworth knocked in a run in the 2nd inning and Fernando Tatis Jr. hit a solo homer in the 3rd inning, his 23rd of the year.
The Padres wiggled out of two bases loaded jams, to maintain their lead. In the 6th inning, Michael King loaded the bases with no outs, but Adrian Morejon came into the game and retired the next three hitters to keep the Padres ahead 3-0. Then in the 7th inning, Kyle Hart loaded the bases with one out, and Mason Miller came in to put out the fire. Miller walked two batters to bring in two runs for the White Sox, but got out of the inning with the Padres still ahead 3-2. Wandy Peralta and Robert Suarez each pitched a scoreless inning to close things out, as the Padres moved a step closer to securing a playoff berth. The Padres will return home to face the Brewers on Monday.
