The Padres announced that they have signed OF/1B Connor Joe to a one-year contract. The Poway High alum spent the last two seasons in Pittsburgh, where he hit 9 home runs with a .688 OPS last season. Joe has experience playing both first base and in the outfield, which are both positions of need for the Padres.

According to The Athletic's Dennis Lin, the Padres also agreed to a deal with OF Jason Heyward, who split the 2024 season between the Dodgers and Astros. Heyward had a very solid 2023 season in LA, hitting 15 home runs with an .813 OPS. Heyward and Joe should form a righty/lefty platoon in left field to replace Jurickson Profar, who signed with the Braves earlier in the offseason.
