Dare we say he's back??? Yu Darvish made his fifth start of the season, and it was far and away his best, as he shutout the Mets for 7 innings while allowing just 2 hits, no walks and struck out 7 hitters. Darvish was efficient as well, needing just 76 pitches to complete 7 frames. Meanwhile, the Padres got to Mets starter Clay Holmes, hammering him for 8 hits and drawing 2 walks while scoring 4 runs (2 earned) and knocking him out in the 4th inning. Manny Machado ripped a 2-run single in the 2nd inning, while Gavin Sheets broke out of a recent slump with a 2-run homer in the 3rd. Jackson Merrill drove in the fifth run of the game on a sac-fly in the 8th, and Jason Adam and Robert Suarez hurled two scoreless innings as the Padres won 5-0, their fifth consecutive game heading into Thursday's trade deadline.
